Coyotes are present in New York City and are sometimes spotted in Central Park.
Below are some tips on how to handle a coyote sighting:
DO:
-Do maintain a safe distance from coyotes
-Do make make loud noises and make yourself look bigger if you are approached by a coyote
-Do call 911 if you are injured by a coyote
-Do monitor and leash your pets if necessary
-Do be aware of your surroundings in denser areas where coyotes stay hidden and search for food
-Do properly dispose of garbage in secure containers
-Do share this information
DON'T:
-Don't allow your pets to approach or play with coyotes
-Don't feed coyotes or any wildlife
